Eco-Friendly
You can be a global warming denier, and a climate change skeptic, but going green is not only about preserving our environment. Eco-friendly solutions for your home can help you improve your overall quality of life, as well as save you some money. Today, we will not talk about garbage recycling or green transport solutions, instead we would like to focus on bathrooms and how to turn them eco-friendly.
So, if you are planning to renovate your bathroom, now is the perfect time to consider a couple of green solutions. You will not only ensure a brighter future for our planet, but you will also save a substantial amount of money in a long run.
Motion sensor faucets
Most people don’t realize that they waste an enormous amount of water while they are brushing their teeth, washing their face and hands, shave, etc. While doing these, people often leave the faucet on, but if you simply turn it off, you will save hundreds of dollars at the end of the year. Sure, some people don’t know about this or simply forget to do it and that is why we recommend installing a motion sensor faucet. Water will run for a couple of seconds and stop as soon as your hands are no longer in front of the motion sensor. This is a cheap and brilliant solution that will reduce your water bill within the first month of use.
LED light bulbs
LED light bulbs should be used across your whole household. Today, there really is no reason to still use regular light bulbs. They are unreliable, drain more energy, and provide worse lighting. On top of that, LEDs have advanced so much. In previous years, they were more expensive and less impactful, but today, things are completely different. Not only will they reduce your energy bill because they use 80% less energy to run, but LEDs will also last as much as 25 times longer than a regular light bulb. Additionally, one LED can save you approximately $160 per year without sacrificing the lighting quality.
Low-flow showerheads
Long showers waste the biggest amount of water in bathrooms. We don’t want to judge people who love to soak for a couple of extra minutes, but they should know what impact that has on their water and energy bill, as well as on the environment. Water is a precious resource and as of now some parts of the world struggle with water shortage. We will not talk about water shortage predictions, but let’s say that they are not that good. If you live in an area that has water troubles in the summer or any part of the year, we strongly recommend installing a low-flow showerhead. You will be able to take long showers without wasting too much water. In fact, low-flow showerheads use half as much water per minute than the regular ones. If you opt for one, you will be saving both on the water bill and on the energy bill.
Natural materials
We know that using natural materials in the bathroom can be tough. Wood particularly doesn’t go well with water unless you coat it with protective substances. But we are not saying that you should put wooden elements in your bathroom, instead you should consider installing stone baths, sinks, etc. They are made of natural, eco-friendly materials and are also aesthetically pleasing. If you plan to switch your shower for a bathtub, there is nothing better than this. And that is all from us. As you can see, these four eco-friendly solutions are not something that only the rich can afford. We picked them so that they can fit into anyone’s budget. We hope that you will consider using at least one of our suggestions and help preserve our beautiful planet.
