Help Your Pet Go Green

Regardless if you have a cat, dog or any other type of pet, you need to know that it has an impact on the environment. You as an owner have responsibility to help your pet be as much “green” as possible. The
environment is important for us and for the future generations, so we need to do all that is in our power
to protect it.
As a pet owner, if you want to help this cause, you can do a couple of things that are pretty easy to
accomplish and some of them will even save you a couple of bucks. So, without further ado, here are top
five ways to help your pet go green.

Always clean after your dog

When you are taking your dog for a walk, always bring a scoop and bags, so you can clean after your dog.
We see people every day avoid doing this simple task and they leave their dog’s poop to lie on the
sidewalk or in the park’s grass. This can be very hazardous because a dog’s poop can pollute water
sources and spread diseases.
So, next time you are in a park, pick after your dog and toss it into a bin. There are even people who use
their pet’s poop as compost. But be careful not to put it on edible plants because there is a risk of
transmitting diseases.

Craft pet toys by yourself

Another way to go green is to craft your own pet toys. Build them out of any pet-friendly material. For
example, use card boxes to build a fort for your cat or you can knit a ball for your dog. The possibilities
are really endless, you just need to use your creativity. By doing this, you will reduce waste in your house
a lot, as well as create a fun little activity for yourself.

Buy in bulk

You should buy your pet’s food and all other necessities in bulk. This way, you will go to the pet shop less
often, thus reducing gas pollution. Also, by buying one big package instead of several small ones, you will
reduce waste.
An even better solution is to buy online because you won’t have to start your car at all. There are a lot of
great online pet shops that offer a wide selection of Advance dog food, toys, medicine, and everything
else your pet might need.

Adopt a pet

If you consider getting a companion for your dog or cat, maybe you should consider adopting a homeless
one. The biggest problem is that there are too many strays without proper homes and buying one from
the breeder or pet shop will only encourage them to breed them more, creating a never-ending cycle.
So, if you want to help the environment and help a poor homeless dog, adopt. It is the only way to help
reduce the number of strays.

Neuter your pet

Lastly, we would like to talk about neutering. We know that some people are against this, but if you care
for the environment, then this is the best option. Cities are overpopulated with pets and if you can’t
control how often your cat breeds, then you are better off neutering it. This might sound cruel, but
keeping the pet population under control is crucial.
And that is all from us. We hope that you found our article interesting and that you learned something
new about going green with your pet. Of course, you don’t have to do all of the things from our article,
but if you manage to accomplish even one, it will help our environment a lot.
