Eco-friendly tourism is certainly gaining a lot of popularity nowadays. Visiting countries that are doing whatever they can in order to preserve their nature is definitely recommendable, so if you don’t happen to know where to go next, one of these countries would be an ideal solution. So, what are the countries that you can travel to responsibly and enjoy not only all the perks they offer but the intact nature as well?

1. Iceland

One of the most popular touristic attractions in the last couple of years, yet still very eco-friendly is definitely Iceland. All the locals are extremely protective of their nature and quite respectful of their land. The best option would be to allocate at least a week in order to explore this amazing country from one corner to another, experiencing some of the most beautiful examples of what nature can do. You will find unpaved car parks and paths, minimal safety infrastructure, and most importantly, dozens and dozens of examples of intact nature. Make sure to start from Reykjavik first, in order to see what the capital is all about and make your way north or south.

2. Switzerland

Even though Switzerland is a very popular destination during winter time, this green country offers so much in other seasons as well. Switzerland is also recognized as the world leader in deploying solar power technology, which is yet another eco-friendly reason to go here. So make sure to visit one of the most beautiful European destinations and book your Switzerland travel as soon as possible. It’s not only eco-friendly though, as visiting the capital of this country and all its villages can be quite unique and exciting as well.

Another European destination that you simply have to visit if you’re a nature lover is Slovenia, perhaps one of the greenest countries in Europe, and definitely the most eco-conscious one in this part of the continent. Not only are the villages quite green, but the capital Ljubljana was named the “Green Capital of the World” in 2016. They have innovative recycling systems, and almost no traffic as you can explore the capital on foot in just a day. Electric taxis and free public bikes are also available.

4. New Zealand

In case you don’t want to visit Europe this time around and you’re still up for an exciting and eco-friendly trip, New Zealand is an excellent option. After all, have you seen the Lord of the Rings? Wouldn’t you like to take a walk through Hobbiton? New Zealand is a country that has a goal to be completely fossil fuel-free by the year 2025. It’s also working to utilize geothermal energy sources, which makes it one of the most eco-friendly countries of the world. It’s also incredibly rich and diverse in landscapes and wildlife – so there will be plenty of things to see and do around here!

5. Zanzibar

If you’re a fan of Africa, then you know that Zanzibar is the destination for you, more specifically, the Chumbe Island.
