Swimming Pool Water, Keeping Clean & Healthy

Swimming Pool Water

Owning a backyard is amazing and it’s even better if you have a pool, too. However, you won’t be able to enjoy unless you maintain it properly – keeping the water clean and healthy is the most important task of every pool owner. Here’s how you too can do that, starting today.

Applying granules

This is the best and easiest way to clean your pool and keep the water healthy – just throw in a couple of granules and witness the pool getting cleaner in a matter of minutes. There are several options you can choose from, but it seems that most users find chlorine granules most efficient.

Before you do this, check the chlorine level to calculate the dosage of chlorine, and take the water temperature in considerations as well. If it’s below 20°C, you can’t just throw the granules into the pool, but will be required to mix them with water – 10g of chlorine per liter of water – beforehand.

Relying on a chemical floater

If you clean your pool regularly, but are still not completely satisfied with the water quality, it’s time to take things to another level and look into chemical floaters. These nifty little things are used together with chemical tablets and can regulate your pool’s chlorine level for a longer period of time. This way, you won’t have to clean it too often and twice a week should suffice.

Chemical floaters release chlorine from the tablets into the water, thus saving you from spending too much time maintaining the pool on your own. This is particularly helpful if you’re away for a couple of days and don’t want to ask your neighbors to check your pool every single day.

Replacing filter cartridges

This is another important thing most people forget – checking, cleaning, and eventually replacing your filters and cartridges is necessary if you wish to swim in clean water all summer long. Depending on how much you actually use your pool, filter cartridges should be replaced twice a month or, if you’re a really big fan of spending quality time in the pool, even once a week.

Filters and cartridges are among the most important parts of the pool, and just because they’re small, it doesn’t mean they don’t require attention. The same goes for other parts of the pool as well, which is why sticking to quality swimming pool supplies – from spa equipment to hydrostatic drains and other accessories – is the only way to make sure you’re always surrounded by clean water.

Minimizing stains

No matter what kind of a pool you have, the chances for stains are always high, especially if you use lots of sun creams and lotions. You may not even notice, but these will corrupt the pool and stay on top of the water, forming an oily film-like layer. There isn’t much you can do against these stains except not using them at all – which is also impossible, knowing how dangerous laying in the sun unprotected can be.

A pool cover is another way to protect your pool against stains, but it’s also an effective tactic against water evaporation, so this idea comes with more benefits than you know. Finally, if you can afford it, install an automatic pool cover that’s even more effective and much easier to operate.

Keeping your pool water clean and healthy isn’t as hard as people generally assume and all you need to do is find a method that suits you the most. You should also change the water at least once or twice a year, just to make sure you have the freshest and cleanest water possible.
