Xeriscape-Friendly Plants For A Low Water Garden

Reducing water use at home can be done by turning off the faucet while brushing your teeth and by only washing clothes in cold water when you have a large enough load. However, our outdoor water use is also running the threat of wasting a lot of water — nearly 50% according to the EPA. Our lawn and gardens are a source of pride, but maintaining them throughout droughts and hot summers can be costly in terms of our wallets and water use.

What is Xeriscaping?

Xeriscaping is a type of eco-friendly landscape design that reduces the need for supplemental water. Typical xeriscape plants include using native species and drought-tolerant plants that can survive on little water. By using native plant species in your garden, you can ensure that the plant is already adapted to your climate and it may even help your local ecosystem.
