How to Reduce Your Energy Footprint

Reduce Energy Footprint

Reduce Your Energy Footprint

Climate change has been a big concern for the past few years. Many studies have shown that the temperature of the planet is increasing by at least 2˚C every year. This has been due to many reasons. For example, nowadays we are burning more fossil fuels like coal, gas, oil and other fuels than ever. When these fuels are burnt, they produce many harmful gases like CO2, methane, nitrous oxide and more. These gases are known as the greenhouse gases as they
don’t go out of the atmosphere like other gases but instead they stay in the atmosphere of which creates something like a cover around earth that keeps heat inside. With all that in mind, what are the things we can do to face this problem? (Reduce Your Energy Footprint) There are many things that we can do and should do to avoid this problem. Here are some of the most important points we can do to reduce our carbon energy footprint and how to do them.

Renewable energy is the future

It’s very obvious that renewable energy is one of the most if not the most important sources of energy nowadays. We generate tons of clean electricity by using this technology that doesn’t harm the planet or the climate like the other fossil fuels. That’s why renewable energy is a big consideration for many companies to invest in. For this reason many products were produced to help people replace their usual source of energy with cleaner, cheaper and better renewable sources such as solar panels. Solar panels are one of the most simple and reliable ways that you can use to generate electricity. Just by installing a proper solar system on your roof, you can generate enough electricity to
power up your whole house while saving hundreds of dollars each month. Even if you don’t have a suitable roof or are short on cash, it’s not a big problem as you can join a solar farm. Solar farms are remote solar power plants that are installed away from your building and share generated energy with other properties. In this way you can solve the problem of installing a solar system on your building by buying a share in a nearby solar farm, so you save energy and money too.

Energy efficient products

There are many products that are produced to help in power saving and also reducing the climate change effect. The most important thing to keep in mind when buying these products is to see the energy star logo. This logo means this product meets the energy efficiency standards for the U.S. By using these products, you can save up to 30% of your energy bills and in the same time reduce the carbon gases emissions.
Led bulbs are one of these products that you can use in your home. Lighting is a main point in this problem as about 5% of the electricity consumption in the U.S. residential sectors is only for lighting. Led bulbs use way less energy than the usual light bulbs. In fact, led bulbs use 85% less energy and can last about 10-20 times longer than ordinary bulbs. Not only that, but also it will clearly decrease your energy bills and obviously your carbon footprint as well.

Consume your energy wisely

One of the easiest and most simple ways to avoid high energy bills and reduce carbon dioxide footprint is just by turning off the devices that you don’t use constantly or when you are not at home. Just make sure to unplug all the unused electronic devices and turn off all the lights when you go out or you just don’t need them to work. Another easy solution is that you can invest in a smart power strip as it will save you a lot of time and money.

Efficient heating

According to many studies in the U.S. Energy Information Administration, over 30% of the energy generated yearly is used for cooling and heating purposes. This means more fuels and gases are used to produce more energy and subsequently more greenhouse gases are produced. Luckily, there are some solutions we can do to decrease this effect.

● Use smart thermostat
● Turn down your water heater
● Make sure to close the refrigerator or freezer after using and don’t keep it up for long so
you use less energy and also prevent damage
● Use a cold water cycle to wash your clothes. Not many people know that, but many
detergents are designed to clean better in cold water. It also helps in decreasing the
energy consumption and the amount of water used

Last words

Climate change is one of the biggest fears we are facing now and we should take a step to decrease it. This of course won’t happen in one night, but it will take time so we must be patient and do our part for the planet. By applying these tips we can help in decreasing the carbon footprint and save our planet.
